PM reviews project to revamp Giza Zoo, Orman garden

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said on Sunday that the government looks forward to revamping all public gardens to provide entertainment for citizens.

 

The premier made the remarks at a meeting with Agriculture Minister El Sayyed El Quseir and Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Ahmed Morsi to review a project to develop the Giza Zoo and the Orman Botanical Garden, Cabinet’s spokesman Nader Saad said.

 

Madbouli issued directives to preserve the green spaces while carrying out the development project.

 

The Giza Zoo is a zoological garden in Giza. The zoo and is home to many endangered species, as well as a selection of endemic fauna. The first to be built in the Middle East, rare species have been successfully bred in the zoo.

 

While the Orman Garden is one of the most famous Botanical gardens in Egypt. It dates back to 1875 and the reign of Khedive Isma’il Pasha who established the garden on a larger site than it presently occupies as part of the Palace of the Khedive. It became a public botanical garden in 1910/1917 and put under the Ministry of Agriculture management.
