RAMALLAH: Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh and the President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Kate Forbes today discussed strengthening relief efforts to mitigate the repercussions of the Israeli occupation’s aggression and war of genocide on the Palestinian people.

During a meeting in Ramallah, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of working and pressing toward opening more crossings with the Gaza Strip to increase the entry of humanitarian, relief and medical aid.

He further highlighted the need to focus on the quality of aid and the needs of the Palestinian people in the Strip.

The Prime Minister also stressed the need to enable the National Authority and international institutions to deliver aid directly from the West Bank to Gaza.

Shtayyeh called for following up on the issue of the Gaza Strip detainees and exposing the occupation’s practices and humiliating detention methods.

He noted that the ‘scenes documented by the media and the testimonies of
survivors confirm that Israel has committed unprecedented war crimes against detainees, stating that detainees are stripped of their clothes, tortured, and subjected to interrogations under inhumane conditions, maintaining that the number and condition of their detention remain unknown.

Shtayyeh added that detainees from the West Bank, whose number exceeded 9,000 in the occupation prisons, are also living in extremely difficult conditions.

The Prime Minister called on the President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to document and disseminate these testimonies and issue statements about what is happening on the ground in the Gaza Strip addressing the capitals of the world and all international forums and institutions in order to stop the aggression.
