RAMALLAH: Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh today stressed during his meeting with the Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs TSUJI Kiyoto and Japanese Representative to the State of Palestine, Ambassador??? Yoichi NAKASHIMA, at his office in Ramallah, that Israel is practicing the most heinous forms of genocide against the Palestinian people.

Shtayyeh said that Israel acts as if it is a state above the law.

Shtayyeh briefed them on the the latest developments regarding the current situation in Gaza and the repercussions of the occupation’s aggression against the Palestinian people.

Shtayyeh affirmed that Israel has turned the Gaza Strip into a killing field, and it is facing a major humanitarian catastrophe with its loss of the most basic necessities of life, without water, food, electricity, or medicine.

He also highlighted the tragic killing of over 30,000 persons since the start of the Israeli aggression on October7.

“Nearly 30,000 martyrs have died since the beginning of the aggression, and more
than 70,000 have been wounded.”

He called for the urgent need to stop the aggression against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and to open more crossings with the Gaza Strip to bring in urgent medical aid, to restore electricity and water.

He continued, “More efforts must be made to preserve the two-state solution and implement it on the ground, stressing that the sole way to achieve this is by ending the occupation and recognizing the State of Palestine on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.

The Prime Minister added that “Israel must be held responsible for the killing and destruction in the Gaza Strip, and bear the cost of reconstruction.”

He praised the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries, and expressed his appreciation for Japan’s announcement of providing emergency aid worth $32 million in response to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
