Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said on Thursday 14/7/2022 that the State was keen over the past period to bear any increase in the price of petroleum products, especially the diesel price, as it is closely related to other daily activities, including public and cargo transportation.

Speaking during a virtual meeting with governors, Madbouli talked about yesterday’s decision to increase fuel and diesel price.

Yesterday, Egypt raised the price for a liter of diesel from LE 6.75 to LE 7.25.

The premier noted that a liter of diesel actually cost 11 pounds which means that the State bears 4.24 pounds per liter.

He said he gave directives to all governors to follow up the application of the new increase and step up campaigns to monitor transport stations to avoid any manipulation and make sure that drivers abide by the new tariff set by each governorate following the increase in diesel price.

He also urged governors to increase campaigns on vegetables and fruit markets to make sure that all commodities are available and that their prices are not increased in an unjustifiable way.
