Premier: Israel’s plan to build 3,000 colonial units ‘a challenge to international community’

QALQILIA: Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh today described Israel’s recent announcement of plans to build 3,000 new colonial housing units in the occupied West Bank as a ‘blatant challenge to the international community’ and an obstacle in the way to establish an independent Palestinian state.

In a press statement, Shtayyeh expressed his concern over Israel’s new colonial steps in the West Bank, which coincide with the ongoing hearings in the International Court of Justice regarding the legal consequences arising from Israel’s occupation of Palestine.

He asserted that Israel’s actions demonstrate its disregard for international laws and a deliberate defiance of those laws, taking advantage of its sense of impunity, symbolized by the U.S. veto in the United Nations Security Council.
