President Mahmoud Abbas today congratulated his Chinese President Xi Jinping on his appointment to a third term as China’s president, stressing keenness to strengthening historic bilateral ties. President Abbas extended his heartfelt congratulations in a cable sent to his Chinese counterpart on being unanimously elected president of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the PRC at the ongoing session of the 14th National People’s Congress. He said that Xi’s re-election was a mark of the great confidence in him and reflected the outcome of his work and dedication as a leader of his country and nation, while expressing his confidence that Xi would continue to make successful achievements for the benefit and achieve the aspiration of China and the Chinese people. He stressed his keenness to strengthen long-standing historic Palestinian-Chinese ties and expressed his appreciation of the role of China, under Xi’s leadership, towards the Palestinian question. He concluded by wishing Xi continued health, happiness and success and China and the Chinese people lasting progress and prosperity.
