RAMALLAH: President Mahmoud Abbas today received the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini at the presidential headquarters in the city of Ramallah.

The President strongly condemned the campaign led by the Israeli occupation government against UNRWA, which aims to liquidate the Palestinian refugee issue.

He affirmed the significant role of UNRWA in providing vital services to Palestinian refugees in accordance with United Nations resolutions.

He also confirmed the need to keep providing the necessary support for the agency in order to enable it to providing its basic services to refugees.

The President also called on all countries that have suspended their funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), to immediately reverse their decision for the good of the millions of Palestinians who rely heavily on the agency’s services.

President Abbas stressed the need to immediat
ely stop the ongoing Israeli aggression against Palestinian people. He also denounced the forced displacement against Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

He called for opening urgent humanitarian corridors to the Gaza Strip, providing medical supplies, delivering water, electricity, fuel, and providing shelters for displaced persons as quickly as possible.
