President al-Assad discusses with Belova issue of children in al-Hawl and al-Rouj camps

President Bashar al-Assad received on Wednesday Maria Lvova Belova, Children’s Rights Commissioner for the President of Federal Russia, and an accompanying delegation.

 

Talks during the meeting dealt with the issue of  children in al-Hawl and al-Rouj camps , with the  two sides discussing the Syrian-Russian joint steps and efforts to get those children out of the camps, despite of the obstacles that some Western countries are putting in this regard.

 

President al-Assad stressed that although this file is primarily a humanitarian one,  the West is investing this issue politically with the aim of maintaining these camps as incubator for terrorism and extremist ideology.

 

President al- Assad added that in synchronizing with the evacuation of the children, work should be done to close these inhuman camps permanently.

 

 

 

In turn, Commissioner Belova pointed out to the importance of developing mechanisms of cooperation between the institutions and bodies in Syria and Russia in this file and mobilizing all potentials and exchanging expertise with the aim of reintegrating and rehabilitating the Russian and Syrian children who are coming out of these camps.

 

In the same context, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, discussed with Belova means of setting a plan to enhance cooperation mechanisms in the file of children living in the al-Hawl and al-Rouj camps in general, and arrangements of the return of a number of Russian children to Russia in the framework of the humanitarian task.

 

Mikdad said that joint efforts are being exerted to evacuate the children, from Russia and other countries, from the camp and repatriate them to their homelands.

 

For her part, Belova hailed cooperation of the Syrian side in this file.
