AMMAN: The price of 21-karat gold, which is the most sought after in the local market, recorded JD55.2 per gram on Saturday, reflecting a significant selling price. Meanwhile, the purchasing price was slightly lower, standing at JD53.20 per gram. According to Jordan News Agency, Ribhy Allan, the Secretary General of the Jordan Jewelers Association, provided further insights into the pricing landscape. The prices of 24-karat and 18-karat gold were noted to be JD63.40 and JD49.30 respectively. Furthermore, the Rashadi lira, a gold coin weighing seven grams, was priced at JD387, while the English lira, weighing eight grams, reached JD440. Allan highlighted that the current demand for gold in the local market remains modest. However, there is a noticeable interest in purchasing gold bars and liras, primarily for savings. The global market has seen gold closing its weekly trading sessions on Friday at a historic high of $2722 per ounce. This surge is attributed to ongoing political tensions in the Middle East, c oupled with weak economic data from the United States and a rising global demand for gold.
