Prime Minister discusses upcoming AHLC meeting with US official, urges curbing the Israeli aggression

Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh today discussed with the Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs at the US State Department, Barbara Leaf, the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC) meeting of the donor countries scheduled to be held tomorrow at the United Nations headquarters in New York, and urged the US to play an active role in curbing the Israeli aggression against the Palestinians in the occupied territories. He also called on the US administration to curb Israeli settlement activity in order to preserve and protect the two-state solution in light of Israel’s systematic destruction of the possibility of implementing it. The Prime Minister stressed that there is an urgent need for American pressure on Israel to enable the Palestinian government to hold general elections, including in Jerusalem, which, he said, is essential for the Palestinian people. Shtayyeh also stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Palestine and the United States, leading to recognition of the P
alestinian state, again calling on the US administration to fulfill its promises toward Palestine.
