Her Royal Highness Princess Basma bint Talal, Honorary President of the Arab Women Media Center, on Sunday patronized an annual ceremony held on the occasion of Arab Media Day and the 25th anniversary of its founding, under the title “Towards a Digital Media that Promotes Change.”

In a speech, Princess Basma congratulated Arab women journalists on their day, pointing to the early beginnings of the center some 25 years ago and its goals to train and qualify Arab journalists to carry out their mission with professionalism, honesty and proficiency, despite various economic, social and political challenges and circumstances.

She stressed the importance of the center’s efforts in highlighting the concerns and issues of Arab women, particularly journalists, and its role in fostering dialogue, meetings and exchanging opinions and experiences between female journalists from various Arab countries, which reflects the use of media to defend women’s rights and advance their role in the community.

Princess Basma pointed to the accreditation of the center in 2002 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization as an Arab center for media training, lauding the center’s initiatives and programs and its role in networking with many Arab and international media organizations, in addition to its ongoing efforts to provide the necessary training opportunities for media students in universities and fresh graduates.
