Her Highness Princess Mona Al-Hussein patronized a celebration of the University of Jordan’s Faculty of Nursing’s golden jubilee on Tuesday. The event was attended by the University President, Natheer Obeidat. The Faculty of Nursing at the University has been a pioneer in establishing nursing education, Areej Othman, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, said. She made the remarks in a speech at the ceremony, acknowledging the societal challenges faced at the time of the faculty’s establishment. Othman noted that the faculty has maintained its reputation as an educational beacon for the past 50 years, exemplifying leadership, advancement, and success through exceptional medical care and dedicated support for patients and their families. The dean also paid tribute to the previous deans of the college, indicating that the college is ranked among the best in international standings. It is the top-ranking institution locally and holds advanced positions regionally and globally. She emphasized the college’s pride in its alumni, who represent their college and university both within and outside Jordan. “Today we believe more in the faculty’s ability to achieve accomplishments by continuing on its path to influence the lives of patients, families, and societies positively”, commented Obeidat. He referred to the “distinguished” history made by the faculty’s graduates, who have become leaders in healthcare at all levels, significantly impacting women’s health, scientific research, and education fields. To conclude the ceremony, Princess Mona presented honorary shields to notable contributors, including the late Prime Minister Abd al-Salam Majali, who founded nursing programs in Jordan, and the first dean of the faculty, Dr. Wafiqa Abdul Rahim. Honorees also included several deans and college graduates and a group of exceptional students in bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs.
