The Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) started on Wednesday 13/7/2022 to restore Qubbet el-Hawa (Dome of the Wind) and a number of nobles’ tombs in Aswan to be open for visitors within the coming few period.

SCA Secretary General Mostafa Waziri said the move comes as a part of the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry’s plan to restore archaeological sites across the country, especially in Upper Egypt.

The restoration process will be conducted in cooperation with the Egyptian-German archaeological mission co-headed by Germany’ Dr. Friederike Seyfried and Egypt’s Abdel Moneim Said.

Restoration works will include routes leading to the tombs as well as visitor walkways and external and internal lighting system.
