RALPH HADDAD AND KARIM AMER WIN THE ISSAM AL ABDULLAH PRIZE FOR SPOKEN POETRY

The Issam Al Abdullah Foundation announced the results of the Issam Al Abdullah Award for Spoken Poetry in its third year, at the headquarters of the Press Syndicate.

The jury, composed of poets Tariq Al Nasser Al-Din, Germanos Germanos, Muhammad Hammoud, Samir Khalifa and Mahdi Mansour, preferred that the award be given equally to two participants, Ralph Haddad (Lebanon) and Karim Amer (Lebanon). The two winners obtained the consensus of the jury, which praised the technical level of the participating poems in general.

This year, 20 participants from Lebanon and Syria submitted to the competition. The eldest son of the poet Issam Al-Abdullah, Hazem, announced the publication of the book “Al-Araf” published by the Arab Renaissance House by the poet and critic Sarah Al-Zein, which is a study of Issam Al-Abdullah’s poetry.

During the award announcement, the family of the poet Issam Al-Abdullah revealed that the President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, had awarded the late poet the Lebanese Order of Merit, and the family, on its part, thanked President Aoun “for his attention to the value of Essam Al-Abdullah on the poetic and cultural levels.”

The two winners, Haddad and Amer, shared the cash prize of 10 million pounds
