Secretary-General of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), CEO of the National Committee for Supporting Earthquake Victims in Syria and Türkiye, Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayed, held a meeting with Syrian Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Chairman of the Higher Committee for Relief, Hussein Makhlouf.

The meeting focused on the relief aid shipment delivered by Bahrain to Syria, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, within the framework of the humanitarian response to face the repercussions and damages caused by the earthquake that struck Syria recently.

Dr. Al-Sayed asserted that based on HM the King’s directives and the support of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the RHF, under the leadership of HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, seeks to provide the necessary assistance to quake-affected brotherly Syrian citizens.

He indicated that the visit aims to collect first-hand information about the damages caused by the quake, and determine necessary needs to discuss the possibility of providing them in various fields, especially in the relief and humanitarian ones.

He added that work is currently underway with the relevant UN Agencies and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent to support earthquake victims in the quake-affected regions of Syria and to restore some of the infrastructure impacted by the earthquake in cooperation with UN agencies.

Minister Hussein Makhlouf expressed the Syrian people’s pride in the deep-rooted relations between the two countries, stressing the importance of the stances of Bahrain’s leadership, government and people in strengthening ties between the two brotherly peoples.

He affirmed that all necessary facilities have been provided to ensure the delivery of Bahraini aid to the affected governorates and its distributions under the supervision of international relief organisations.
