A Royal Decree Monday appointed Mashhour Rifai as Secretary-General of the Higher Council for Science and Technology (HCST), effective October 19. Rifai has a 30-year experience in the management of higher education institutions, and rose through the ranks from section head to dean and vice president for 8 years at the Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) and Yarmouk University and PSUT president for 8 years, according to a statement. He is currently advisor to HRH Princess Sumaya, PSUT Chair of the Board of Trustees, a member of the Fellowship Advisory Team for the Higher Council for Science and Technology, member of the Higher Education Council and member of the Education Council.
