SAMI GEMAYEL MEETS RAHI: ACCUSATIONS OF TREASON WILL NOT FORCE US TO BACK DOWN

Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi, welcomed this Wednesday the Kataeb party Chief, Sami Gemayel, and an accompanying delegation.

After the meeting, Gemayel confirmed that “the visit aims at expressing solidarity with the patriarch after the campaign of madness and treason launched by two parties, one that does not respect the law and considers another country as its reference, and wants to teach us lessons in sovereignty, and another party that hails Syria, does not recognize Lebanon, and is famous for its records of coups and assassinations.”

Gemayel affirmed that “accusations of treason will not make us retreat, but will rather incite us to continue to tell the truth. Let them threaten all they want. We will not be afraid, and will never stop defending the country and every Lebanese targeted with this kind of treason charges.”

Tackling the immunities issue, Gemayel said: “We hope that the parliament’s ongoing plays will stop. Instead of boycotting at every occasion, let them resign and let us renew our parliamentary life and reproduce power.”
