Istanbul: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), emphasized the need for a comprehensive understanding of the Iranian constitution's philosophy to diagnose the longstanding issues in the region since the Iranian revolution. He highlighted that the constitution was founded on principles that extend beyond national borders, impacting regional stability.
According to Emirates News Agency, Ghobash's remarks were made in response to the Iranian delegation during the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Istanbul, Trkiye. He pointed out that the Iranian constitution's preamble and specific articles advocate for the revolution's extension beyond borders, which constitutes a core ideological project aimed at influencing regions beyond Iran.
Ghobash argued that this vision fundamentally misaligns with the principles of the contemporary international system, which prioritize state sovereignty, legal equality, and national stability. He asserted that the disagreement is not merely rhetorical but rooted in the constitutional philosophy that promotes a transnational revolutionary agenda.
He further stated that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have the right to voice concerns, highlighting that the issue originates from the Iranian constitutional framework rather than from political or diplomatic disputes. Ghobash called for respect for nation states, their sovereignty, and the rights of their peoples, including Iranians, to determine their futures within legitimate institutions, free from external interventions and ambitions.
