Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), met with Alexander Babakov, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, on the sidelines of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) hosted by the UAE until 12th December 2023 at Expo City Dubai.
The meeting focussed on strengthening their cooperation and partnership in various areas, based on the friendship and strategic alliance between the UAE and Russia, which is supported by their leaderships.
Ghobash welcomed Babakov and his delegation, stating that the FNC highly values the Russian side’s willingness to accept the invitation, attend and participate in a parliamentary meeting on the sidelines of COP28.
The FNC is organising the meeting in collaboration with the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) on 6th December 2023. More than 30 parliamentary leaders, 500 parliamentarians, and experts from 100 parliaments and international organisations from around the world will
participate in the event.
