ABU DHABI: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), held talks with Numan Kurtulmus, Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, and his accompanying delegation, currently on an official visit to the UAE.

The meeting delved into the rich tapestry of parliamentary friendship and cooperation between the two nations, exploring avenues to further elevate their coordination and consultation. Both sides engaged in a vibrant exchange of views on a multitude of shared interests, paving the way for enhanced communication through various channels.

They stressed their commitment to regional and international cooperation through discussions on harnessing the potential of key parliamentary forums like the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), and the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States.

They also highlighted the importance of sharing parliamentary information and experience to reflect the joint vision of their leadership and serve the common interests
of the two countries and their friendly peoples.

During the meeting, the two sides highlighted the importance of strengthening their bilateral parliamentary cooperation, in line with the advancing relations between the UAE and Trkiye.

Ghobash lauded the long-standing ties between the two countries, noting that their bilateral relations are founded on trust, understanding, mutual respect, and shared interests.

He pointed out that the UAE has been a peace-loving country since its inception, based on the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other states, coexistence, and tolerance.

‘Bound by close ties and aligned ambitions, the UAE and Trkiye are building a strategic partnership to drive sustainable development. This collaboration will bolster economic, investment, and trade ties, ensuring a more prosperous and stable future for both peoples,’ Ghobash stressed.

Kurtulmus, for his part, highlighted the long-standing relations between Trkiye and the UAE and the keenness of the Grand Natio
nal Assembly to advance its parliamentary relations with the Emirates.

He thanked Ghobash for his warm welcome and hospitality, expressing his hope that the visit will successfully strengthen their bilateral relations. The top parliamentarian also invited Ghobash to visit Trkiye and the Grand National Assembly, pointing out that bilateral visits are to strengthen cooperation between the two friendly countries.
