President of the Supreme Constitutional Court (SCC) Counselor Boulos Fahmy lauded President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s keenness on boosting and promoting judicial cooperation with African countries.

Speaking during the opening session of the Cairo’s sixth high-level meeting for Presidents of Constitutional and Supreme Courts and African Constitutional Councils, Fahmy said that the continued success of the meeting’s sessions reflects the determination of the Constitutional and Supreme Courts and African Constitutional Councils on attaining constitutional guarantees for the freedom and prosperity of people and their rights to development.

He also pointed out to the success of the previous sessions in reaching a consensus in crucial constitutional issues, which are of great interest to the world and the African countries, including combating corruption, terrorism, confronting illegal emigration, supporting digitalization and green economy.

The previous meetings have developed theoretical and constitutional frameworks in a bid to attain development in the African countries, he further said.

For his part, Senate Speaker Abdel Wahab Abdel Razeq asserted Egypt’s permanent commitment to supporting the African countries in their efforts to attain development.

Delivering a speech during the Cairo’s sixth high-level meeting for Presidents of Constitutional and Supreme Courts and African Constitutional Councils, Abdel Razeq hailed the keenness of the political leadership under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on promoting cooperation with the African countries in the various spheres, chief among them the judicial constitutional domain.

The political leadership’s awareness of the importance of judicial constitutional cooperation with the African countries embodies Egypt’s keenness on this cooperation, he added.

The convocation of this meeting annually in Cairo reflects the determination and strong will of the African nations, he went on to say.

He also pointed out to Egyptian presidential directives to up judicial cooperation between Egypt and the African countries.

Launching an electronic platform for African constitutional judicial rulings reflects Egypt’s great interest in maintaining cooperation with the African countries, he went on to say.

On his part, Justice Minister Omar Marwan said that the sixth high-level meeting for Presidents of Constitutional and Supreme Courts and African Constitutional Councils is of special importance, as it is an event that gathers the elite of African judiciary and constitutional officials.

Delivering a speech during the meeting, Marwan said this meeting, which is held under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, reflects the State’s keenness on promoting African partnership in the various spheres.

The meeting also shed light on the crucial role of the constitutional judiciary in safeguarding rights and freedoms, he added.

The African judicial cooperation represents a necessity, especially in light of the joint challenges which beset the African countries topped by comprehensive development, he added.
