Authorities ramped up security around Trump Tower, the Manhattan Criminal Court and Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in New York ahead of a possible indictment of former President Donald Trump. Trump claimed he could be arrested Tuesday in a post on his social media account, Truth Social, during the weekend and said District Attorney Alvin Bragg is considering charges that stem from a $130,000 hush-money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016. The money was paid to Daniels, whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford, by then-Trump lawyer Michael Cohen in the weeks leading up to the 2016 presidential election in exchange for her silence on an alleged sexual encounter with the real estate developer in 2006. The former president told supporters to protest and “take our nation back.” In addition to a heightened police presence, barricades and trucks are also being used to boost security. Trump supporters, who were organized on social media, were seen in small numbers walking around the district attorney’s office.
