A Senate delegation took part in the Parliamentary Conference on Interfaith Dialogue, which is currently held in Moroccan city of Marrakech, under the theme: “Interfaith Dialogue: Working Together For Our Common Future.” Senate’s Assistant President , Muflih Rhimi, and Senator Ibrahim Badour, are participating in the three-day event, which is organized by Moroccan Parliament and Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) , in cooperation with Religions for Peace, with support of United Nations Alliance of Civilizations. Addressing the forum, Rhimi said Jordan has a “long record, a remarkable history, and continuously” seeks to achieve peace, promote interfaith dialogue and coexistence, as well as consolidating authentic societal values based on mutual respect and other human principles. He noted “Amman Message,” which was launched by His Majesty King Abdullah II in 2004, is a “key ” indicator of the Kingdom’s policy under His Majesty’s leadership for its continuous work to realize peace and security globally. Rhimi said Jordan’s diplomacy, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, played a “major and important” role over the past years in achieving international peace and security, lauding its contributions to preventing and resolving conflicts, preserving and building peace. Interfaith dialogue, he noted, is an “important” issue in multicultural and religious societies, especially due to its contribution to enhancing mutual understanding and promoting peace and coexistence. In addition, he noted this dialogue could reduce tensions and promote peace and coexistence, which would boost values of tolerance and cooperation. Rhimi indicated that interfaith dialogue contributes to combating extremism and religious intolerance, by promoting mutual understanding, tolerance and knowledge, and could also contribute to promoting social justice and human rights.
