Senate rights committee receives ECO project manager

The Senate’s Freedoms and Citizens’ Rights Committee, chaired by Senator Bassam Talhouni, met Tuesday with the manager of the “Together for a Transparent and Responsible Public Administration” project in Jordan, affiliated with the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and funded by the European Union (EU). During the meeting, Talhouni spoke about the mechanism of the committee’s work and the tasks entrusted to it under the Constitution, pointing out that the committee is concerned with studying laws and proposals related to freedoms, rights and duties stipulated in the Jordanian Constitution. He stressed that the committee uses a participatory approach and works with stakeholders and is constantly striving to build connections with civil society institutions to enhance dialogue and achieve the interests of the Jordanian state. He pointed out that the Kingdom is witnessing, under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, political, economic and administrative modernization, noting that the role of the Senate is complementary to the role of the government and all state institutions, in addition to civil society institutions.
