Seven community entrepreneurial projects were awarded funding from the King Abdullah II Fund for Development’s (KAFD) Community Entrepreneurship Challenge project under this year’s edition. Director of the KAFD Mazen Tablat signed the financing agreements to support the winning projects, which included various educational, tourism, economic, agricultural, environmental and technical fields and sectors. The projects will receive financial support of no more than JD5,000 for individuals and groups, while civil society organizations will receive JD10,000 to JD15,000, according to a KAFD statement on Monday. The Community Entrepreneurship Challenge project aims to motivate young people to positively compete and spread a culture of initiative, giving and active citizenship to contribute to the development of their governorates and promote positivity by providing an example of young people who have been able to make a positive change in their local communities. The winning projects were selected by a neutral and specialized technical committee of experts that reviewed and studied the submitted applications and evaluated them, training the qualified projects to improve their technical skills before moving to the final assessment round and selecting the final projects. The statement also indicated that the base of the target groups was expanded for this year’s edition according to the development plan of the project by raising the age of the applicant for the individuals and groups category from 22-35 years old to 22-40 years old, in addition to including civil society institutions among the sectors that are able to apply.
