SFD Boosts Financial Skills Among Sharjah Youth

Sharjah: The Sharjah Finance Department (SFD), represented by the Financial Training Centre and SFD's Youth Council, in collaboration with the Sharjah Youth Council, organised a specialised training programme titled 'Plan Financially. For a Better Life'. This initiative is part of joint efforts aimed at empowering the emirate's youth with essential financial skills and enhancing their awareness of the importance of financial planning and smart resource management.

According to Emirates News Agency, the programme reflects the commitment of government entities and youth councils to strengthening collaboration and delivering initiatives that contribute to preparing a financially aware generation. Sheikh Rashid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Finance Department, emphasized the department's commitment to enhancing financial literacy among youth by equipping them with practical knowledge and tools for efficient resource management and informed financial decision-making.

He further stated the importance of unified efforts with the Sharjah Youth Council and SFD's Youth Council in launching initiatives that align with youth aspirations and contribute to preparing a generation capable of adapting to economic changes. Investing in youth financial awareness is seen as an investment in a sustainable future, helping individuals balance current needs with future planning and supporting Sharjah's development journey.

Mouza Alketbi, Member of the Sharjah Youth Council, highlighted that promoting financial literacy is key in preparing a generation that is more aware and future-ready. She stressed the importance of developing skills in financial planning, saving, and investment. The Sharjah Youth Council remains committed to collaborating with institutional youth councils to deliver initiatives that enhance financial awareness and resource management skills, in line with the UAE Youth Agenda 2031.

The programme, held over two days with six hours of sessions per day, featured a range of specialised topics. Nasser Kashwani, Director of the Financial Training Centre, covered key concepts related to public finance in the Government of Sharjah, including accounts, budgets, procurement, taxation, financial policies, and public debt. Fatima Al Shamsi, a lecturer at the Centre, delivered a session on financial wellbeing, expenditure management, and personal budgeting with practical examples and scenarios.

On the second day, the programme included sessions on international investment mechanisms, focusing on stock investment fundamentals and financial saving concepts. Marwan Al Mazmi, Chairman of SFD's Youth Council, supervised this part, enhancing participants' awareness of investment opportunities and tools.
