Baghdad, Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Shakhwan Abdullah, stressed the importance of holding the 34th conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union in Baghdad at this particular stage.
A statement by his media office stated that Abdullah met, on the sidelines of the work and activities of the conference, President of the Republic Abdul Latif Rashid, and a number of heads of parliaments and participating Arab delegations, while he held side meetings with state officials.
It pointed out, the importance of convening the conference at this particular stage, and the efforts of the brotherly countries to support Iraq and joint work towards strengthening parliamentary cooperation, continuing dialogues between the members of the Union and unifying visions towards hot files and issues.
