Amman, Minister of Government Communications, Faisal Shboul, on Thursday attended the closing ceremony of the training project for journalism and media graduates in the health media field.

The project was implemented by the Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS) in partnership and cooperation with the Ministry of Government Communications.

In a speech at the ceremony, Shboul, who is also the government spokesperson, said that this project is part of series of projects that the Ministry of Government Communication is working on to develop the media environment and information quality over the next three years.

Shboul stressed the importance of training in the media as a constant approach. He added that the Ministry of Government Communication and as part of its belief in the importance of the specialized journalism worked in partnership with a number of civil society organizations to design training programs in two vital sectors such as health and tourism.

He expressed hope that these partnerships will continue, aiming at designing similar programs in all key sectors, thus contributing to educating and informing the community, and providing training opportunities for many graduates looking to enter the labor market.

“Investing in training young people is an investment in the future of journalism and media, and today – as in the whole world – we are facing a huge spread of information, especially in the health field, which requires continuous awareness and training to confront fake news, rumors, and privacy violations.”

The ceremony also included a presentation of an assessment study conducted by the RHAS on the design of the training project, its key results and recommendations submitted to relevant authorities.
