Signing of (Syrian Foreign Policy) book for Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari at al-Assad Library, Damascus

Damascus, SANA- Wrapping up its activities held recently at al-Assad National Library in Damascus, the Syrian Book Fair celebrated the signing of the book “Syrian Foreign Policy” for Syrian veteran diplomat Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Bashar al-Jaafari in presence of official, diplomatic and cultural figures and others.

“Revising Syrian political history to read it with a new eye” constitutes the prelude for the content of the book, which represents an encyclopedia of Syria’s political history and addresses a prominent period in its history, where events had collapsed in an intensive way in the Arab region and the world, Dr. al-Jaafari said in his speech during the signing ceremony at the library’s hall.

Al-Jaafari added “the book includes the political mobility since 1946, the beginning of the evacuation of French colonialism from Syria, until the year of 1982, the days of the western-direct-support to the Israeli invasion of Beirut when Syria moved alone to confront the aggression, where the late founding leader Hafez al-Assad had launched the concept of Syrian strategic balance against the brutal Zionist entity.”

Al-Jaafari pointed out that the book illustrates, in an intelligible and simple language, the identity and the true feature of the Syrian policy, in a way that the motives and reflections of this policy are clarified on the ground.

Chairman of the Arab Writers Union (AWU) Dr. Mohammad al-Horani, in turn, stressed that Dr. al-Jaafari, with his experience and accurate knowledge of the political history, is trying to clarify that the Syrian policy is fundamentally based on balances and principles, which empowered it to achieve great success on more than one level.
