Sisi voices Egypt’s keenness on boosting relations with Romani

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi expressed on Wednesday Egypt’s on keenness on developing bilateral relations with Romania in the political, economic and popular domains.

 

 

In a press conference with his Romanian counterpart Klaus Iohannis at Ittihadeya Palace, the president said he discussed with the Romanian leader distinguished political relations between the two countries, as well as issues of mutual concern.

 

 

President Sisi hailed relations with Romania, pointing out he visited Bucharest in 2019 for the first time by an Egyptian president in 15 years to promote the decades-long relations.

 

 

“As we celebrates the 115th anniversary of establishing relations between Egypt and Romania, I discussed with president Iohannis distinguished relations binding the two countries and means to push them forward especially in the fields of energy, investment, industry, trade and tourism,” the president said.

 

 

He said an agreement was reached with the Romanian side on the importance of holding the fourth round of the joint committee concerned with developing economic and technical cooperation at the bilateral level, a matter that would contribute positively to increasing the volume of trade and investment between the two countries.

 

 

President Sisi hailed the convocation of the Egyptian-Romanian economic forum on the sidelines of the Romanian president’s visit to Egypt describing the forum as a link between businessmen and major companies from the two countries to explore more investment chances and incentives offered by the Egyptian government to investors.

 

 

President Sisi reaffirmed the importance of relations between Egypt and Romania as well as continued cooperation and coordination at regional and international forums in line with common denominators and the respect of international laws, good neighborliness and non-inference in the domestic affairs of countries.

 

 

President Sisi appreciated the balanced Romanian role either in the Balkan region or inside the European Union, saying his meeting with the Romanian leader provided an opportunity to exchange viewpoints and discuss regional and international issues either in the Middle East or East Mediterranean.

 

 

He renewed Egypt’s support to settling differences and disputes through peaceful means and in line with the international law.

 

 

He said he discussed with the Romanian leader the importance of holding elections in Libya on December 24 as scheduled to enable the Libyan people to elect a unified government protecting the security, stability and sovereignty of the country.

 

 

The president referred to the importance of abiding by UN resolution 2570 which calls for the exit of all mercenaries and foreign troops from the Libyan territories in order not to give a chance for certain parties to exploit the Libyan territories to achieve the goals of other parties.
