Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, stressed today the need for Europe to avoid double standards in its approach to Palestine and the Israeli occupation.
In an interview with local radio Cadena SER Madrid, the Spanish prime minister stressed Spain’s firm position toward the conflict and confirmed that his country reflects the position of the Spanish people, adding that it will maintain its political position on the conflict in the Middle East as a peace-loving state.
He stressed the need for the international community to view the war as an opportunity to resolve the conflict simmering every few years and to make progress in achieving the two-state solution, stressing the need for Europe to recognize the State of Palestine, which has already been recognized by a large number of countries.
The Spanish Prime Minister reiterated that it is in Europe’s interest to achieve peace as quickly as possible in the Middle East for two reasons. The first is a moral reason since the death of civilians cannot be tol
erated, and the second is a geopolitical reason because stability in that region, which is of great importance to Europe, would have a positive impact on it, he added.
The Israeli occupation continued its all-out aggression against the Gaza Strip, which began on the 7th of October and has so far resulted in the killing of more than 15,500 civilians, including 6,150 children and more than 4,000 women, in addition to more than 38,000 wounded.
