Speaker calls for deepening Arab solidarity to face challenges

Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the parliamentary delegation, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, has asserted that in line with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s vision, Bahrain is committed to its firm approach based on cooperation and solidarity within its efforts to strengthen human fraternity.

She indicated that the kingdom believes that the Arab Nation’s strongest weapon in the face of all foreign efforts to target its capabilities and interests is the adoption of unified stances regarding its fateful issues.

She stressed that there is an urgent need for Arab parliaments to deepen the one-team spirit, develop joint Arab solidarity and support cooperation among Arab countries to face the unprecedented challenges and risks to the Arab Nation, requiring confronting them by adopting a unified approach and joint policies.

She affirmed that what unites Arab peoples is greater than what divides them, calling on Arab parliaments to enhance their role in strengthening Arab unity and solidarity.

While addressing the 32nd conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU), currently held here under the theme “Arab Solidarity”, Speaker Zainal underlined the importance of broadening Arab solidarity in light of the critical developments witnessed by many brotherly Arab countries regarding their security, stability and unity, in addition to development challenges.

In this regard, she said that Arab parliaments’ solidarity could contribute positively to safeguarding the security and stability, as well as protecting the internal unity in Iraq, Sudan, Libya and Syria, in addition to supporting brotherly Egypt and Sudan to preserve their full water rights.

She added that the Palestinian cause remains the Arab Nation’s central issue, highlighting the firm stance on the right of the Palestinian people to regain their rights and establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, which will contribute to strengthening the pillars of comprehensive peace in the region, based on the Arab Peace Initiative and the relevant resolutions of the international legitimacy.

Speaker Zainal stressed the need to deepen the spirit of Arab cooperation and solidarity, and to stand united in the face of Houthi militia’s terrorist practices aimed at disturbing Arab security, citing terrorist Houthis’ repeated attacks against Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, leading to many victims and injuries, as well as the destruction of facilities and property, which, she said, requires the entire Arab Nation to reaffirm solidarity with the two brotherly countries, and back all the measures they deem necessary to safeguard their security, stability and territorial integrity.

The Speaker of the Council of Representatives called on Arab lawmakers to openly denounce Iran’s blatant interference in the internal affairs of several Arab countries and repeated attempts to subvert the region’s security and stability through forming militias and providing them with funding and weapons, within the framework of the Iranian regime’s expansionist policies that put regional and global peace and security at risk, in breach of the UN conventions and laws.

Speaker Fawzia Zainal highlighted the importance of strengthening the role of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, commensurate with the distinguished status and rich history of the Arab Nation, and in order to serve the interests of Arab peoples.
