RAMALLAH: The State of Palestine called today on all responsible actors to stop Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people and prevent an imminent bloodbath in Rafah, southern Gaza, where hundreds of thousands of Palestinian citizens and internally displaced people are currently overcrowded.

In a press statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates urged all countries “to urgently and immediately intervene to stop Israel’s bloodshed, uphold their obligations under the Geneva Convention and in line with the International Court of Justice’s Preventive Measures Order, including by immediately imposing sanctions and an arms embargo.”

“Gaza is a slaughterhouse and Israel’s deliberate mass killing, starvation, and the forcible transfer of 1.3 million people, half of whom are children, in Rafah is the most barbaric and savage of all,” the statement said.

It added, “Israel, the occupying Power, and those who provide it with the diplomatic, military, and political cover are complicit in this genocide a
nd are defying their obligations under international law as well as the ruling of the International Court of Justice.”

“World leaders have a historic responsibility to prevent Israel from launching a ground assault on Rafah and the foreseeable apocalyptic consequences. Expressing concern without taking determined effective actions is a moral and political failure.”
