Sultan bin Ahmed meets with Harvard University’s students

SHARJAH: H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, met on Thursday with a delegation of students from Harvard University, at the Sharjah Academy For Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology.

During the meeting, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed reviewed the educational renaissance of the emirate of Sharjah including the emirate’s strategy of sponsoring and establishing numerous academic and scientific institutions, as well as providing learning resources, its interest in heritage, antiquities, and history as it contributed to the emirate’s achievement of a unique international status and numerous titles that reflect its scientific identity.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed noted that the University of Sharjah is working to strengthen and expand its international relations and cooperation with various prestigious universities around the world which lead the university to the rank of the distinguished educational institutions through many aspects of th
e comprehensive academic process in qualifying students in a variety of fields.

Dr. Hamid Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, discussed the history and status of the university and the colleges and programmes it includes, pointing out its interest in scientific research and research groups in various disciplines, which makes it a leading and distinguished academic institution at the regional and global levels.

The delegation toured the departments and facilities of the Sharjah Academy for Space and Astronomy Science, Technology, and acquainted with its various exhibitions, models, that provide an explanation of the journey and history of humans’ dealings with space.

At the end of the meeting, the delegation thanked the University of Sharjah’s president and administration for the pleasant welcome and expressed their admiration for what makes the university unique, the specialised centres it houses, and its standing in the world of science.

At the end of the visit, the Deputy Ruler of Sharja
h received a souvenir from the delegation, and he also presented them with the University of Sharjah shield.
