SHARJAH: H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of Sharjah Media Council, witnessed Thursday, Sharjah Media City’s ‘Shams’ celebration of its seventh anniversary, on the Shams Studio filming site at the city’s headquarters.

Upon his arrival, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed was briefed on the filming site, which was specially prepared for carrying out dramas, filming episodes, and all advertising uses. He familiarised himself with the site’s designs, multiple rooms, and outdoor spaces.

During the ceremony, the marketing campaign for Sharjah Media City 2024 was launched. The campaign expresses Shams’ identity and slogan, and translates the media trends of the Emirate of Sharjah and the City’s plans for expansion, growth and media leadership.

Dr. Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Media City, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council and the attendees at the City’s seventh anniversary celebration, addressing the most importan
t challenges and successes achieved by ‘Shams’ over the past years until it became an example of leadership, empowerment and attracting companies, stressing that ambition is still great and work continues to meet the aspirations of the leadership and the passion of the emirate of Sharjah.

Al Midfa said, ‘We have a small team in numbers, but its dreams are big, and today, we have become the model for media cities not only at the state level, but also regionally, and we are working to form a historical milestone in the media sector in the Emirate of Sharjah, which plays a fundamental role in enhancing cultural indicators, and which must be an incubator for international media companies.’

Then, the Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, honoured Jasima Maryam Cleor with the ‘Ideal Employee Award ‘Shams Champion’ for 2023, which aims to develop skills, contribute to innovation and creativity, achieve institutional goals, and enhance positive interaction in the team.

The ceremony also included the screening of
a film about the achievements, initiatives and activities of Sharjah Media City during 2023, through which Shams contributed to providing the ideal environment for doing business, developing workers in the media field, and strengthening the partnership with its partners.

Entertainment, artistic performances, and various competitions and challenges were also featured at the ceremony.

The celebration was attended, alongside the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, by Dr. Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Media City ‘Shams’; Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri, Secretary General of the Sharjah Media Council; and Rashid Abdullah Al Obad, Director of Sharjah Media City.
