Supply Minister Ali el Moselhi said on Tuesday 9/8/2022 that Egypt’s strategic stock of basic commodities is sufficient for 6 to 7 months thanks to directives of the political leadership.
The strategic stock of wheat is sufficient for 7.3 months, Moselhi said while opening a commercial registry office in Beni Suef, adding that nearly 4 million tons of local wheat have been collected so far.
The minister pointed out that Egypt imported about 1.8 million tons of wheat since the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
He added that his ministry signed a contract to purchase 180,000 tons of wheat from India, but they have not been released so far due to bad weather in the Asian country.
