Syria and IECD discuss cooperation to support and empower youths

Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Muhammad Seif al-Din met Director General of European Institute for Cooperation and Development (IECD) Alexis Béguin to discuss areas of joint cooperation, means to boost them, and provide facilities for the implementation of development projects.

 

Seif al-Din pointed out the necessity of accelerating the implementation of the standing projects which provide vocational training and help to build skills of those entering the labor market.

 

The plan of IECD’s which includes the inauguration of 6 vocational centers in several provinces with the Ministry during the first quarter of the next year would enhance the labor market system, he added.

 

For his part, Representative of the IECD in Syria, Nidal Bitar, said that the organization, in cooperation with the Ministry, is carrying out a project for youths’ rehabilitation by offering the fund to carry out their pioneering projects in a number of areas in the Syrian countryside.

 

A second project is being carried out in Lattakia aimed at strengthening the capacities of about 1,800 young men and women.
