Syria, China discuss cooperation in domain of water sector

Syria and China have discussed prospects of cooperation in the domain of water sector.

That came during a meeting held Monday between Minister of Water Resources, Dr. Tammam Raad, and China’s Ambassador in Damascus Feng Biao.

Minister Raad presented the ministry’s priorities with regard to drinking water and irrigation projects, pumping and treatment stations, and their direct impact on raising the level of services provided to citizens and their stability, underlining the importance of the Chinese side’s participation in these projects,

He noted that the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people have affected the water reality, in addition to the subversive operations that affected the water sector due to terrorism.

For his part, the Chinese ambassador stressed the importance of strengthening and developing the historical relations between the two countries at all levels, especially by increasing participation and support for reconstruction and infrastructure rehabilitation projects in the water sector due to its social and environmental impact.
