Syria, Crimea to enhance economic, trade cooperation

President of the Russian Republic of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, said his country seeks to develop commercial partnership programs with Syria.

“The Crimean companies are ready to increase relations with the Syrian side” President Aksionov said during a meeting, in Simferopol, with the Syrian economic delegation, headed by Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil.

The President added that both countries “are moving forward together” and “we are implementing a program to develop the Syrian-Crimean trade partnership, particularly the shipping company.”

In turn, Minister Al-Khalil stressed that the mutual visits are very important steps, hoping further cooperation and continuous visits would be realized between the two sides.

He added that the aim of the Syrian delegation’s visit is to outline future work plans between the two sides and to identify and overcome any pending issues.

Meanwhile, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Crimea under the President of Russia, Georgy Muradov, said that the visit of the Syrian delegation comes also to take part in the first meeting of the joint Russian-Syrian work group on trade and economic cooperation.

Syria and the Russian Republic of Crimea signed an agreement in 2019 to enhance trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
