Baghdad, SANA- Syria and Iraq have discussed ways to improve economic, trade and investment relations between the two brotherly countries.

That came during a meeting between Iraqi Minister of Trade, Atheer Dawood Al-Ghurairy and the Syrian Ambassador in Baghdad, Satam Jadaan al-Dandah.

The ministry stated in a statement that “Al-Ghurairy affirmed, during a meeting with Jadaan on Sunday evening, the Iraqi government’s tendency towards openness and support for economic cooperation with Syria.”

Al-Ghurairy pointed to “the centrality of the Iraqi-Syrian relations throughout the ages and the need to work during the coming period to strengthen the bilateral relations between in all fields.”

For his part, Ambassador al-Dandah extended thanks and appreciation to the government and people of Iraq for the humanitarian stance towards their brothers in Syria by providing urgent aid and sending aid convoys and rescue teams to mitigate the repercussions of the earthquake.

Al-Dandah affirmed “Syria’s strong desire to cooperate and work with Iraq and the desire of Syrian companies and investors to enter the Iraqi market.”

He expressed hope that the meeting would result in strengthening cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
