Health Minister, Hasan Ghabbash, discussed with Director-General of World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Ghebreyesus, means of enhancing cooperation on securing medical equipment and developing health care services.

During the meeting held on Tuesday, Ghabbash referred to the difficulties that face Syria in light of the terrorist war and the unilateral coercive measures that targeted different sectors of vital services and economy including the health one.

The Minster briefed Ghebreyesus on the health situation in the occupied Syrian Golan and the suffering of its citizens from the discriminative polices of the Israeli occupation that hinder their basic rights to enjoy health.

WHO Director-General, for his part, hailed Syria’s efforts exerted to protect its citizens from the COVID-19 pandemic, affirming the Organization’s commitment to provide support needed to boost health sector in Syria.
