Lower House Speaker, Ahmed Safadi, said Syria’s stability would reflect “positively” on the entire region. During his meeting on Thursday, with Chargé d’Affairs of Syrian Embassy to Jordan, Issam Niyal , Safadi noted Syria’s readmission to the Arab League, within the framework of Arab role in resolving Syrian crisis, based on its unity, stability, and territorial integrity, is in line with the “firm” Jordanian position, adding that peaceful solution is the only settlement to resolve the Syrian crisis. Safadi also noted importance of Amman meeting, which came as a continuation of the discussions hosted by Saudi Arabia, which is in line with Jordan’s initiative based on launching a leading Arab role in efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis. Safadi referred to “enduring” history of Syrian people and their positions at pan-Arab level, affirming necessity to support their unity and stability. Safadi also stressed importance of finding a solution to the refugee crises, drug smuggling and terrorism threat with Syria’s return to the Arab League. Lauding Jordanian-Syrian “historic” relations, he affirmed joint duty on the two countries’ parliaments to overcome obstacles to resume relations to their previous level, to serve Arab and Islamic issues and serve common interests. For his part, the Syrian diplomat valued Jordan’s positions towards Syria, stressing importance of strengthening and developing prospects for joint parliamentary coordination and exchanging delegations’ visits, which would contribute to achieving common interests and serve Arab central issues. He added that Jordan and Syria faced “remarkable” challenges and pressures that were overcome, thanks to their leaderships’ awareness and wisdom, referring to available prospects to achieve “close” bilateral cooperation. Niyal also commended the Kingdom’s “great” role in Syria’s readmission to Arab League, valuing the Kingdom’s parliament and its supportive stances for Syria. In this regard, he pointed to importance of visit of Arab parliaments’ speakers to Syria about 3 months ago. During the meeting, Safadi and Niyal discussed multiple issues of common concern, stressing importance of strengthening joint parliamentary cooperation, according to a House statement.
