Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed el Tayyeb has extended thanks to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for sponsoring a conference organized by the top-Sunni institution on climate change.
Addressing the conference on Saturday 18/12/2021, Tayyeb urged urgent action to face hazards resulting from climate change, such as high temperature, wildfires, snowfalls in seas and oceans and extinction of many species of animals and plants.
Tayyeb blamed humans for this catastrophic situation, stressing that Islam orders Muslims to respect the environment.
