Baghdad, The Journalistic Freedoms Observatory of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate announced that several journalists have been subjected to attacks and harassment, indicating that a journalist was shot in Basra, another one is facing trial in Karbala, and a third was bailed for five million dinars in Erbil.

The correspondent of the Dijlah satellite channel, Safaa Al-Fariji, told the Iraqi Observatory for Journalistic Freedoms: that he was shot by unknown gunmen in Basra Governorate, days after a trial on the grounds of a lawsuit filed against him, calling on the security authorities to investigate, to find out who was responsible for shooting him, and trying to kill him.

The Observatory added: Haider Hadi, an investigative journalist and TV reporter who lives and works in Karbala, was told to attend the court against the background of a lawsuit filed against him by an investment party after he published a press report on the national industry, and the challenges it faces, criticizing investment methods that are harmful to the national economy.

Haidar was accustomed to reviewing the courts in several lawsuits published during the past few years.

Ali Abdul Karim, the correspondent of the Fallujah channel for the Iraqi Observatory for Press Freedoms, explained details of the harassment he was subjected to, as he was surprised to be summoned to Erbil after a doctor filed a lawsuit against him on the grounds of reporting medical errors, indicating that he did not mention the doctor publicly, and that the family of one of the deceased spoke to him about the death of their son as a result of a medical error, and that he came to the court in Erbil, was placed in prison, and was released on a financial bail of five million dinars, and that he was shackled to the prison restrictions in which he was placed for hours awaiting the decision of the judge who agreed to release him on bail to appear before the court Later./End
