Baghdad The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received an official invitation from his Italian counterpart, Sergio Mattarel, to visit Italy.
During his meeting with the Italian ambassador in Baghdad, Maurizio Cricanti, the President of the Republic stressed the need to develop bilateral relations and enhance aspects of cooperation and investment between Iraq and Italy in a way that serves common interests, and the importance of coordination, exchange of experiences and visits between the two countries, especially with regard to the maintenance of dams, irrigation projects, agriculture to cultural aspects, and the development of archaeological sites and museums.
The media office of the President of the Republic stated in a statement that during the meeting, they discussed the program of the upcoming visit of the President of the Republic to Italy based on the official invitation, which is the first visit that organized to an Iraqi president.
For his part, the Italian ambassador affirmed his country’s desire to strengthen relations and expand ways of cooperation with Iraq in various fields for the benefit of the two friendly peoples, indicating that his country is currently working on organizing a large exhibition dedicated to the Mesopotamian civilization in coordination with the Iraqi side./ End
