Baghdad, The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, returned today, Friday, to Baghdad, after his participation in the Summit of Non-Aligned Countries in Azerbaijan.

The Presidency of the Republic stated in a statement: “The President of the Republic, Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid, arrived in the capital, Baghdad, after participating in the meeting of the contact group at the summit level of non-aligned countries for recovery after the coronavirus pandemic, which was held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku.”

During the visit, the President of the Republic met with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, at the Presidential Palace of Zugulba in the capital, Baku. During the meeting, they discussed the bilateral relations between Iraq and Azerbaijan and agreed on the need to improve and develop them.

During the meeting, President Rashid stressed, according to an official statement, the importance of expanding the horizons of joint cooperation in the economic, investment, tourism and energy fields, in a way that serves the interests of the two countries./
