Istanbul, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavusoglu announced the death of 15 Lebanese citizens in the devastating earthquake that struck southern Turkey on the sixth of this month.

Çavusoglu said at a joint press conference with the Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib, and the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Ali Hami, today in the capital, Ankara, that 15 Lebanese citizens were killed in the earthquake, and that the Lebanese authorities sent 5 searches, rescue and medical teams, the first of which reached 19 hours later, from the earthquake.

Çavusoglu stressed the importance of Lebanon’s stability and safety, noting that there is permanent contact with its Lebanese counterpart and good cooperation in regional issues, and that Lebanon also provided humanitarian support to the Syrians affected by the earthquake.

He stressed that Turkey will carry out its humanitarian duty to ensure that the United Nations aid arrives at the Syrians affected by the earthquake.

He pointed to the arrival of the search and rescue teams from 90 countries and that the number of countries that offered his country to meet the repercussions of the devastating earthquake reached 102 countries.
