Traffic accident kills 16 in Syria’s Palmyra

Sixteen people died Friday from a traffic accident on the Homs-Palmyra road near the junction of Al Jamiliya village in the eastern countryside of Homs. The director of the Civil Defense in Homs, Brigadier General Muhdhab Moudi, told the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) that the operations room had received a distress call about people trapped in two vehicles after the car they were in crashed near the junction of the village of Al-Jamiliyah, adding that rescue staff went to the place. Moudi stated that 16 people involved in the accident were dead, including women and children, adding that the bodies were transferred to Homs hospitals.
