Transport minister: Political leadership gives unprecedented attention to transport sector

Minister of Transport Kamel el Wazir said Monday the fourth edition of the Smart Transport, Logistics and Traffic Fair and Forum for the MEA region (TransMEA2021) that kicked off on Sunday and runs till November 10 under the sponsorship of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, asserted the importance of integration between the private and public sectors in the field of transport.

 

Addressing a thematic session held on the second day of the event, the minister said the political leadership gives unprecedented attention to the transport sector for boosting economic and social development.

 

The minister added that his ministry is carrying out a comprehensive plan costing 1.7 trillion pounds to upgrade the national transport sector including railways, underground metro, bridges and roads.

 

He called on the state institutions to establish educational institutes contributing to training new cadres and ensuring the safety of transport means.

 

He pointed out to the new transport projects such as the underground metro, monorail and express electric train which would facilitate movement to the new administrative capital and contribute to the reduction of harmful gas emissions.

 

On roads, the minister said new roads have been established and old ones refurbished while new traffic axes, bridges and tunnels have been erected using cutting-edge technology.

 

On ports, the minister said a data bank for maritime transport has been launched and many ports including the Red Sea ones, have been developed.

 

TransMEA, organized in cooperation with Egypt’s Ministry of Transport brings together regional and international players to showcase leading solutions, advanced trends, innovative products, and new technologies for more efficient and even faster transport and logistics services.

 

Innovations create a vital impact on the way people and goods move. Digital technology, a rather vital element in driving transport innovation, optimization, and improvident across the industry, encompassing Data Analytics, AI, Machine Learning, Cyber Security, Automation, Digital Transformation and Disruptive Technologies will be explored at TransMEA 2021.

 

TransMEA is strongly supported by Egypt’s government, regional and international organizations a thing which contributes to the growth and continued success of this pivotal industry.
