Transport Minister witnesses signing of MoU to establish, manage logistics area at Alex. Port

Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir witnessed Saturday 19/11/2022 the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Alexandria Port Authority (APA) and a global consortium led by SIAC Industrial Construction and Engineering Company, China International Telecommunication Construction Corporation (CITCC), and China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC).

As per the MoU, a technical timeframe plan and a special business model will be prepared to establish, exploit, manage, and operate the logistics area at Alexandria Port.

The pact comes in line with directives issued by the political leadership to expand the partnership between the private sector and the local and public sectors in the transport ministry’s projects in order to lure investors into the maritime sector projects and attain a momentum leap in the maritime transport, said the transport minister.

The logistics area will be the first to be established in line with the most advanced international standards, added the minister.

The minister also referred to the importance of logistics areas and dry ports in expediting the release of goods in the maritime ports and linking them to the railway networks and maritime ports.

The logistics area, which spans over 273 feddans, will witness several industries and business activities related to the maritime transport, complementary and value-added industries, said the minister.
